High-speed chase causes suspects to escape on foot

-

Three foreign men in a multipurpose vehicle (MPV) managed to evade the authorities following a high-speed chase in Hulu Kelang.

The suspects drove the vehicle into a drain near the MEX expressway before escaping on foot.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Farouk Eshak said police conducting patrols in the area spotted the suspects in the car at Bulatan Hillview at about 4.15am on Monday.

“The suspects were ordered to alight for an inspection but the driver suddenly sped off.

“Police gave chase and shortly after, the driver lost control of the car and it landed in a drain,” he said when contacted.

ACP Mohamad Farouk said initial investigations showed that the MPV was registered to a local owner and it was not reported stolen.

“We also found a few black and white masks in the car,” he said.

He said investigations also showed that a foreign man had rented the vehicle from a company in Balakong.

“The car’s owner has since been called up to have his statement recorded,” he said.
