Bryan’s safe hands brighten Penang’s hopes against kl

PETALING JAYA: Penang can rest assured that they have not one but two safe pair of hands between the posts.

This was evident when Bryan See stood in remarkably for injured first-choice goalkeeper Samuel Somerville.

The former Police and PKNP custodian played in the Panthers’ last four matches and has been growing from strength to strength.

In Penang’s last match against Terengganu on Saturday, Bryan single-handedly won the tie for them with six goal-bound saves in their 4-1 away win.

The Panthers will now be banking on the 28-year-old to put on another commanding performance against Kuala Lumpur at the Cheras Football Stadium today.

Bryan knows that all eyes are now on his team, including himself, after their heroics against Terengganu.

“We should not get carried away with what we have achieved.

“Kuala Lumpur are a highly experienced team that we cannot take them lightly. They have present and former national players and their imports have been impressive including their goalie (Kevin Mendoza), who is tough to beat on his day.

“And they are in the right mood to take us on as they held leaders Johor Darul Ta’zim to a 1-1 draw.”

Bryan said it’s good to see the newly promoted team currently in third spot with 22 points but reminded his teammates they must keep on pushing in the next 11 games.

Meanwhile, Samuel can expect a tough fight for the number one spot when he returns to training but Bryan is not worried about the competition.

“Right now, I’m just focusing on my game and making sure I give my best. It’s up to the coach to decide who will take that position.

“I have been in this situation with my previous clubs. I just need to make sure that I use the opportunity to the fullest.”
