SERDANG: Two men were arrested and unprocessed ketum leaves along with ketum water worth at least RM4,000 were seized during a raid here.

Acting OCPD Supt Mohd Rosdi Daud said police raided a shoplot in Lestari Perdana, Seri Kembangan, at about 10pm on Monday.

“Our anti-narcotics officers had been monitoring the premises for some time before conducting the raid.

“We arrested two men, aged 23 and 32, and seized 190 bottles containing 285 litres of ketum water and two large pots with 20kg of ketum leaves,” he told reporters yesterday.

Supt Mohd Rosdi said investigations showed they had been operating there for two months.

“Their supply came from the northern region via express buses.

“We are now trying to identify the supplier and why they chose to ship the leaves this way,” he said, adding, each bottle of ketum water was sold for RM20, while the unprocessed leaves were worth RM35 per kg.

Supt Mohd Rosdi said the suspects would sell their product to regular clients.

“The 23-year-old was previously arrested for the same offence in 2019 while his accomplice has a drug-related record,” he said.

Both suspects have been remanded for four days to assist investigations.

In Kota Baru, Bernama reported that 700kg of ketum leaves worth RM21,000 were seized in a raid at an abandoned car workshop in Kampung Bunohan, Tumpat.
