LRT and MRT users on May 27-28 morning urged to get tested

PETALING JAYA: Commuters who used the Kelana Jaya LRT and Kajang MRT during the morning peak hours on May 27 and May 28 have been told to get screened for Covid-19 after two individuals said they tested positive on social media.

According to Prasarana Malaysia Bhd, two individuals – Nurul Aisyah and Claudia Nuriman – shared about their positive Covid-19 status after using the LRT and MRT on May 27 and May 28, respectively.

In a tweet, Claudia said she boarded the LRT from Wangsa Maju to Pasar Seni, and subsequently switched to the MRT to get to the Semantan station.

“Her journey was between 7.30am and 8.30am on May 28,” said Prasarana in a statement yesterday.

Claudia also said she did not experience any symptoms and received the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine on May 21.

On the other hand , Nurul Aisyah tweeted that she tested positive for Covid-19, and urged commuters who boarded the LRT from Taman Melati to KLCC on May 27 to get tested.

“Her journey was between 8am and 9am,” said Prasarana, which expressed its appreciation for the openness of the two commuters in disclosing their status for the sake of public health.

“If possible, use double face masks, and always be mindful by observing procedures to reduce the risk of Covid-19 spreading,” said Prasarana, which also gave the assurance that all its trains were disinfected every night to ensure hygiene.

“If you have any medical symptoms, avoid using the train as it will put other passengers at risk,” it added.

Earlier yesterday, Prasarana also urged those involved in the LRT crash near KLCC on Monday to come forward so that they can be registered to receive goodwill payments.

Acting Prasarana group CEO Datin Norlia Noah said her organisation had yet to get the details of 83 of the 213 commuters involved in the incident.

“Prasarana hopes all passengers involved who didn’t contacted us to immediately come forward. The payment amount will be determined once details of passengers are filled,” said Norlia, adding that Prasarana had also identified 12 foreigners from Indonesia, the Philippines, Iran, Bangladesh and the Middle East as being among those who are eligible.

“The embassies of the respective countries have been contacted,” added Norlia.
