Wee: Journalists play key role in nation’s development
PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong (pic) has paid tribute to media practitioners for their contributions to the nation’s development.
Wishing all journalists a Happy National Journalists Day 2021, the Transport Minister expressed his appreciation to all media personnel in the country in conjunction with the event yesterday.
Dr Wee, who is also MCA president, said the role of media practitioners in delivering accurate information to the public was greatly appreciated.
‘’The role of media personnel in the country’s development is very significant.
“Your sacrifice in braving the sun and rain, as well as working round the clock to get precise information for the masses is truly appreciated,” he said in a post on Facebook yesterday.
Dr Wee also wished all journalists to always be in good health, ending his message with ‘’Stay safe ya!’’.
Separately, Communication and Multimedia Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah urged journalists in the country to continue staying strong and resilient when performing their duties especially in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.
He said media practitioners have played a vital role as the bridge to disseminate information to the community.
While thanking journalists, he also wished Happy National Journalists Day to all media practitioners.
“Happy National Journalists Day to all journalists nationwide,” he said in a post on his official Facebook page.
First enacted in 2018, National Journalists Day is celebrated on May 29.
