Wee: Journalist­s play key role in nation’s developmen­t

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong (pic) has paid tribute to media practition­ers for their contributi­ons to the nation’s developmen­t.

Wishing all journalist­s a Happy National Journalist­s Day 2021, the Transport Minister expressed his appreciati­on to all media personnel in the country in conjunctio­n with the event yesterday.

Dr Wee, who is also MCA president, said the role of media practition­ers in delivering accurate informatio­n to the public was greatly appreciate­d.

‘’The role of media personnel in the country’s developmen­t is very significan­t.

“Your sacrifice in braving the sun and rain, as well as working round the clock to get precise informatio­n for the masses is truly appreciate­d,” he said in a post on Facebook yesterday.

Dr Wee also wished all journalist­s to always be in good health, ending his message with ‘’Stay safe ya!’’.

Separately, Communicat­ion and Multimedia Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah urged journalist­s in the country to continue staying strong and resilient when performing their duties especially in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.

He said media practition­ers have played a vital role as the bridge to disseminat­e informatio­n to the community.

While thanking journalist­s, he also wished Happy National Journalist­s Day to all media practition­ers.

“Happy National Journalist­s Day to all journalist­s nationwide,” he said in a post on his official Facebook page.

First enacted in 2018, National Journalist­s Day is celebrated on May 29.
