Minister denies having affair with celebrity

PETALING JAYA: PAS’ Datuk Dr Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali (pic) is back in the news again, this time over claims that he had been detained at a roadblock in Terengganu with a female celebrity.

The Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister rejected the allegation that he was having an affair with the woman, said to be the ex-wife of a popular actor, adding that it was being spread to smear his image and reputation.

“All sensationalised stories purporting there was an arrest at a roadblock in Perasing and gossip regarding an affair with a female celebrity are false and maliciously meant to harm my reputation,” he wrote on his Facebook page yesterday after the allegation went viral.

Khairuddin threatened legal action against those continuing to spread such talk.

Terengganu police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Roslee Chik confirmed yesterday that the Kuala Nerus MP was stopped at a roadblock in Perasing, Kemaman district, on May 16.

“He was with another passenger at the time.

“The matter has been handed over to the Bukit Aman CID Special Investigation Unit,” he said yesterday.

Acting Bukit Aman CID director Deputy Comm Datuk Dev Kumar MM Sree said police had opened an inquiry paper on the matter.

“We want to find out what actually happened at the roadblock and if there was any offence. The parties concerned will be called up by police to have their statements recorded,” he said.

Fans of the woman also took to social media, pressing her to clarify the issue.

In August last year, Khairuddin was fined RM1,000 for not undergoing quarantine after returning from Turkey. The issue sparked a public outcry in the country.

Meanwhile, Khairuddin’s special officer Kamal Nazmi Kamaruddin denied allegations linking the minister to two land deals involving the Malaysian Rubber Board (MRB).

In a statement on Friday, Kamal said the MRB had also denied the allegations involving the plots in Jalan Ampang.

Kamal, who lodged a police report on the matter on Friday, called for a full investigation into the spread of classified government documents.
