Walk-ins for all PPV soon

Centres outside Klang Valley to target specific groups

JAYA: Walk-ins will soon be expanded to all vaccination centres (PPV) outside of the Klang Valley for specific groups such as teachers and people with disabilities.

The National Immunisation Special Task Force (CITF) said Perak, Kedah, Penang, Sabah, Melaka, Sarawak and Kelantan have started accepting walk-ins for senior citizens via pre-booking.

“Details of the implementation of the walkins will be announced by the state CITF together with the state Health Department.

“This includes the scheduling and daily quota of vaccinations for walk-ins at PPV for each state,” it said in a statement yesterday.

Walk-ins, said CITF, would be reserved for senior citizens, people with disabilities, individuals aged 18 and above with comorbidities, those who missed their second dose appointments, as well as teachers, members of the implementation team and contractual support service staff at Education Ministry’s institutions.

It said those who missed their second dose appointments could go to the nearest PPV.

“If the PPV does not offer the same type of vaccine as their first dose, they will be referred to another PPV,” it said.

For Klang Valley residents who did not fall into any of the categories and had yet to receive their appointments and wanted to walk in for the first dose, CITF said they could go to the PPV listed previously for walk-ins.

“Walk-ins at these previously listed PPV are now allowed according to the centre’s respective operating hours and no longer start only after 2pm,” the CITF said.

It also reiterated that pregnant women are not encouraged for walk-ins and would be given an appointment via Mysejahtera at the appropriate PPV according to their expected delivery date.

“The number of daily walk-ins is dependent on the capacity of vaccine supply at a PPV,” it said.

“For those who do not have the opportunity to be vaccinated on that day at a PPV because supply has run out, their names will be on the priority list for jabs the next day.”

The CITF also urged the people to adhere to the standard operating procedures and to cooperate with staff at all PPV during walkins to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

This will ensure a smooth and safe process.
