KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Umno will remain united with Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) despite the political turmoil that is now happening at the national level.

It said it would follow the decisions by the central Umno leadership, but with adjustments made according to the autonomy given to Sabah.

It said that the mandate given to Sabah Umno following the 2020 state elections would be respected for the sake of Sabahans.

“We hope all parties will respect our stand for the stability, harmony and well-being of the people in Sabah,” the state Umno said in a statement.

However, three Barisan Nasional MPS from Sabah who were named as those supporting the Perikatan government have yet to confirm the claim.

The three are said to be Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) deputy president Datuk Arthur Kurup, who is Pensiangan MP, Sabah Umno chief Datuk Bung Moktar Radin (Kinabatangan), and Datuk

Mohamad Alamin (Kimanis).

In Kuching, Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) MPS also reiterated their support for the Perikatan government.

He said the coalition would uphold the decree by the Yang di-pertuan Agong for the government to continue until its legitimacy is decided at

Parliament next month.

“GPS describes the Prime Minister’s decision to propose a vote of confidence at next month’s Parliament as a bold and wise action,” he said in a statement.

Nanta said its priority right now is the people and to bring the country out of the pandemic crisis as well as reviving the state and national economy.

“GPS hopes that all parties will stop politicking, and all MPS can make up their minds at the Dewan Rakyat next month,” he added.
