Civil servant claims trial to cheating charges

JOHOR BARU: A civil servant claimed trial at the Sessions Court here to four counts of making false claims amounting to RM7,050 at Hospital Sultanah Aminah (HSA) some three years ago.

Zuraiha Zakri, 38, allegedly used documents containing false material particular­s, namely the order of food and beverage for three different programmes that were not actually supplied as claimed inside the delivery order documents.

She allegedly committed the act with the intention of deceiving HSA while working as an operations helper there.

Zuraiha, who is now working as an operations helper at another government hospital in Kota Baru, Kelantan, allegedly committed the offence at the HSA Clinical Research Centre between July and August 2018.

She pleaded not guilty to all four charges against her in front of Sessions judge Datuk Ahmad Kamal Arifin Ismail here yesterday.

She faces a jail term and a fine upon conviction.

Ahmad Kamal fixed bail at RM8,000 with one surety and ordered Zuraiha to surrender her passport and report herself to the MACC office in Kota Baru every month until the case is over. He also set Oct 21 for mention.
