Indonesian pleads guilty to violating quarantine

AN Indonesian man pleaded guilty before the Magistrate’s Court for violating the Quarantine Order (QO), failure to scan the Bruhealth QR code when entering premises and exposing the public to the risk of infection.

It is the first case of its kind on flouting the country’s Covid-19 restrictio­ns.

Magistrate Dewi Norlelawat­i Abdul Hamid adjourned the case to consider a fitting punishment to be handed on Oct 9.

Yuda Prayoga, 22, is facing a fine not exceeding B$10,000 (RM30,900) and imprisonme­nt not exceeding six months or both, for each charge.

The defendant was identified as a close contact of a Covid-19 patient and he took a swab test.

On Aug 21, the defendant was notified that he contracted the virus and was issued a QO to be isolated at his residence until Sept 6.
