Danil dazzles the rest as he tops 5km KLSCM
PETALING JAYA: Danil Hakim Mohd Daud stole the show to capture the men’s open 5km marathon race in the Kuala Lumpur Standard Chartered Marathon (KLSCM) at Dataran Merdeka yesterday.
The KLSCM, which was organised after a two-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic, saw Danil taking the top spot with a time of 20:32 while fellow Malaysian Mohd Hamizan Darulhisham came in second in 22:42.
Indonesia’s Jefri Dwi Yulian finished third after completing his run in 27:40.
In the women’s open category, Liza Toemen from Holland clinched first place after recording a time of 29:53 while Malaysian Yeoh Kar Wuen was second in 33:39 and third place went to compatriot, Norsyuhadah Maskan, who finished in 36:03.
In the Boost juice men’s 10km open category, Kenya’s Lel Kipchirchir emerged as the champion with a time of 32:27 while Malaysian duo Mohs Shahrin Che Abdullah (34:21) and Azwan Bunjing (34:50) came in second and third respectively.
In the women’s 10km open category, Malaysia’s Tan Li Jun came first after recording a time of 43:11 while compatriot Iza Maryati Mohamad claimed second place in 43:37 and Singapore’s Daphne Lim finished third with 43:46.
“We are delighted to finally be able to hold KLSCM physically after having to resort to a virtual version of the event in the last two years,” said Rainer Biemans, project director of KLSCM and director of Dirigo Events, the owner and organiser of KLSCM.
“We are also extremely grateful for the strong support of the running community which enabled us to maintain over 80% of our registrations from 2020.”
Today, the main events - full and half marathons - will be underway.
