First-time voters hope Kuantan stays dry

-

KUANTAN: Young voters here are excited about casting their ballot for the first time and are hoping that floods won’t spoil their first polling day experience.

A first-timer, who wanted to be known only as Izzati, 20, has already made up her mind on who to vote for, though she may not go out to cast her ballot on polling day if it floods.

“If it just rains heavily, I’ll still go out to vote. But floods are very different. Hopefully, it won’t flood on voting day,” said Izzati, who lives in Semambu.

That is why she wants a government that can solve the state’s flood issues “once and for all”.

M. Rushinie, 21, has been “praying hard every day” that it does not flood on polling day.

“I want to vote and choose who I want as my representative. But if it floods, who knows whether I will be able to go out and vote?” she said.

Izzati and Rushinie are among the 25,000-odd young voters in Kuantan who will be eligible, under Undi18, to cast their very first vote on Saturday.
