PETALING JAYA: Both talent seekers and jobseekers got to connect with each other at this year’s mystarjob Fair 2022.

The career fair was held alongside the Star Education Fair 2022 and featured over 14 companies representing various industries including professional services, retail and many others at the Tropicana Gardens Mall Convention Centre over the weekend.

Globally recognised companies such as TMF Group, the leading provider of key administrative services in over 85 countries worldwide, and Uniqlo (M) Sdn Bhd, one of the largest Japanese casual wear retailers nationwide, were also on the lookout for new talents at the event.

TMF Group Asia Pacific regional chief financial officer Wiebe Wijnia said the fair helped to further strengthen the relationship between companies and universities, making it easier for fresh graduates to find their dream job.

“This collaboration will help prepare graduates with the right mindset for their future jobs by giving them the necessary exposure,” he said.

He added that dedicated and career-driven job seekers would have better prospects at landing their dream job at TMF Group.

“As long as they show strong resolve, it will be easier for them to be trained in the various aspects of their future job,” Wijnia said, adding that the company was currently looking for new recruits in the accounting, tax, human resources and legal fields.

Uniqlo talent acquisition and development assistant manager Loo Mey Yie said the combined fair enabled companies to spread awareness on the key aspects of the many jobs available, to both job seekers and their parents.

“In addition to preparing students, their families will also be educated on how they expect their children’s life to change once they start working,” she said, adding that it would help families be more considerate of the working lives of their children.

Bells Academic Group senior sales manager Alvin Koh said having the event side by side would help companies gain more traction among the youth.

“It helps spread awareness of companies among the students so once they graduate, they’ll be able to find their dream job easier,” he said.

Job searching platform provider Hiredly recruitment consultant Jasmine Wong said the fair would help prepare fresh graduates for their first foray into the working world.

“Students will get a first-hand look into the various jobs available in the market as well as the different requirements, which will make it easier for them to make a decision on their future career path,” she said.

Cosmo Restaurants Sdn Bhd, a franchisee of Burger King Corporation, human resource executive Herzalifah-ain Mohd Tahir said the event provided good exposure for students on the different basic salaries for each job industry in the market.

‘’This will make it easier for them to financially plan their future career paths such as skill training costs and transportation costs for different jobs,” she said.
