Radzi bids for Putrajaya with focus on students

- PETALING JAYA:

Helping poor students and getting them back in school are among the key points of Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin’s manifesto as he battles for the Putrajaya parliamentary seat.

The Education Minister and Perikatan Nasional candidate also pledges to provide free transport to school and RM500 aid for deserving students entering public institutions of higher learning and through the Back To School programme.

Other pledges on his 12-point list for education include placing poor students with potential into boarding schools with the help of the Federal Government if he gets elected as Putrajaya MP.

He also wants to provide aid called #Siswadigital for the poor with the help of the government and corporations.

Radzi said he would also be prioritising parent-teacher associations (PTAS) by allocating at least RM5,000 annually to be used for student development.

He also aims to achieve a zero-dropout rate by working together with the community, PTAS and Federal Government.

In addition, he wants to identify locations for more nurseries and kindergartens at government quarters and increase the number of classrooms for the Special Education Needs Integration Programme at mainstream schools.

As for Putrajaya, he wants to build more schools including a Form Six college and sports school to meet the needs of residents.

The minister also hopes to provide free milk to all kindergarten children and form a platform called #Playgroupjaya for activities to encourage more bonding among the children and residents.
