Probe into PAS leader’s remark against Anwar completed
IPOH: The Perak police are awaiting instructions from the Attorney General’s Chambers after completing their probe on a state PAS leader who allegedly made disparaging remarks against Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, says Comm Datuk Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri.
The Perak police chief said they had sent the investigation paper on the allegedly slanderous and malicious speech made by Perak PAS commissioner Razman Zakaria against the PKR president and Pakatan Harapan chairman.
“We submitted the paper to the DPP’S (deputy public prosecutor) office a few days ago. Now, we are waiting for the next instruction,” he told reporters at the Pasir Putih police station here yesterday.
On Nov 8, Anwar sent a legal letter to Razman demanding Rm5mil in damages for allegedly tarnishing his reputation, along with legal costs.
On Nov 14, Razman, who is defending his Gunung Semanggol state seat, said he would not apologise to Anwar over the comments.
Separately, he said 31,291 early voters had cast their ballots in Perak. Of the figure, 12,215 were policemen and the remaining 19,076, members of the armed forces.
“More than 50 police stations and district headquarters as well as 18 army premises were used in early voting,” he said.
