> Don’t waste your vote
The right to vote gives all of us – of different races and religions and with different beliefs – equal rights and equal status to elect the country’s government every five years. This general election is more important than most as the world recovers from the Covid-19 pandemic and as Malaysia struggles to lift itself out of political instability. Choose wisely! Before casting your vote, examine the plans of all the political parties, keeping in mind that they will promise trivial benefits just to win votes – don’t be swayed by these. Our vote is a precious right, don’t waste it. – NV Subbarow, Penang
> Promising the moon
Malaysians voters, please watch out. There are many election candidates who promise us the moon, and make many more sweet deals. Don’t be carried away. Think 100 times before you vote for them. – NS
> Foreign worker solution
The government should reintroduce the foreign worker rehiring programme and also extend the maximum years of employment allowed to foreign workers. There’s a big pool of such workers available that could immediately help to alleviate the acute shortage in this critical economic recovery period.
