> Fix election dates in future
Holding a general election during a monsoon season is clearly not a good idea as many voters may not be able to get to their polling stations. Malaysia should emulate the United States where elections are held on fixed dates. Malaysia’s Federal Constitution should be amended to fix a suitable date on a Saturday once every five years between March and June – after the monsoon season – to encourage a high voter turnout and ensure the legitimacy of the elected government. – Sharon Lee
