PORT DICKSON: Barisan Nasional started putting in the work to wrest Putrajaya back six months after losing in GE14 in May 2018, says Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan.

He is confident that the coalition has the edge in GE15.

“I got another party briefing this morning, and it all points to Barisan forming the Federal Government,” Mohamad told reporters.

“So, if we continue working hard the next two days, we will be the new government in Putrajaya,” he said while campaigning for Barisan’s candidate for the Port Dickson parliamentary seat, Datuk P. Kamalanathan, at Sunggala Gateway here yesterday.

Mohamad said they have been working hard on the ground, and called on voters not to believe survey findings that have gone viral on social media saying that Barisan will not do well in GE15.

He said the three organisations listed as having conducted the political survey had denied such findings.

“We know who is behind these (viral messages),” he said.

“Please do not believe them, as this is only psywar (psychological warfare),” he added.

Mohamad, who is contesting the Rembau parliamentary seat, urged Barisan’s election machinery not to rest on their laurels and to keep the campaign going.

“Our country has been in a mess since GE14,” said the Barisan election director.

“We have been facing a confidence deficit since, and we cannot let this continue.”

Kamalanathan will be involved in a five-way fight against Negri Sembilan Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun (Pakatan Harapan), Perikatan Nasional’s Rafiei Mustapha, Gerakan Tanah Air’s Ahmad Idham Ahmad Nadzri (who is also an actor, director, and film producer) and Independent candidate Abdul Rani Kulup.

In the 2018 by-election, PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim won the Port Dickson seat with a whopping 23,560-vote majority in a multi-cornered fight, surpassing the 17,710-vote majority obtained by the previous MP Datuk Danyal Balagopal in GE14.

Anwar will be taking on the Tambun parliamentary seat in Perak in this election.
