HK star keeps ‘em guessing on ‘will they, won’t they’

HONG Kong star Kenneth Ma is keeping mum over talk that he plans to marry his girlfriend Roxanne Tong next year, reported Sin Chew Daily.

“Nothing is certain yet. Besides, I will not announce getting married during a company celebration as it would be an odd thing to do,” he told reporters during TVB’S 55th anniversary dinner on Nov 14.

When pressed on whether he had proposed to Tong, the 48-year-old actor said, “My brothers and sisters would throw a fit if I don’t inform them first of any impending wedding,” he said.

Ma said he would consider getting married in 2023.

Tong, 35, reportedly said they had discussed getting married, but their plans were delayed by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The two got together in April 2020 after Tong replaced Jacqueline Wong in her roles in ongoing TVB dramas following the latter’s cheating scandal with married singer Andy Hui in 2019. Wong was Ma’s girlfriend until they broke up following the scandal.

> Two attendees at Taiwanese best-selling rock band Mayday’s concert in Las Vegas appeared to have arrived at the wrong venue after they were seen unfurling banners which read “Jay Chou”, reported China Press.

The band’s frontman Ashin posted a photo of the incident on its Instagram account and tagged the King of Mandopop.

“Some people have arrived at the wrong concert! Even so, we will not offer refunds,” he quipped.

Chou later replied to the post and wished the band good luck.

> Taiwanese superstar Show Lo hit out at fans who accused him of faking a fall on stage to generate publicity for his concert, reported Sin Chew Daily.

“They claimed I had engineered the entire incident to whitewash myself of my mistakes.

“These people look down on me. One day when I am able to stand up again, it will be a bitter pill for them to swallow,” he bristled.

Lo injured himself after falling through a trapdoor on stage during the concert in Kaohsiung on Nov 12.

“I fell hands-first and my legs hit the ground later. The director recommended that we stop the performance, but I waved my hand to say no.

“I wanted to complete the performance,” said the 43-year-old.

Lo said he did that to prevent his mother watching backstage from being overcome by worry.
