Tamil school in Rompin finally gets piped water supply

-

SJK (T) Ladang Middleton in Rompin, Negri Sembilan, is finally getting piped water thanks to the state government, Malaysia Nanban reported.

State human resources, plantation and non-muslim affairs committee chairman and Nilai assemblyman J. Arul Kumar said the pipe-laying and meter installation work was completed on Monday.

The project cost around RM24,000 and was funded by the state government. It was carried out with the support of Syarikat Air Negri Sembilan and the state Public Works Department.

Teachers and pupils at the school had been using water from a pond in the plantation for their needs, which put their health at risk.

School board chairman Kanniappan, who accompanied Arul Kumar on a visit to the school, thanked the assemblyman and Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun for the completion of the project.

The small town of Rompin is located in Jempol district, Negri Sembilan.

> Eleven Malaysian-indian entrepreneurs in Selangor received assistance from the state’s I-SEED programme to boost their small business ventures, Makkal Osai reported.

The I-SEED (Indian Selangor Empowerment and Entrepreneurs Development) programme, which is funded by the state government, was launched last year.

Sepang municipal councillor P. Sivakumar said the programme provides assistance to Malaysian-indian small traders and entrepreneurs who are facing financial challenges in growing their business.

Last year, I-SEED helped 14 such entrepreneurs. This year, 11 successful applicants received mobile stalls, grass cutting machines, portable generators and other equipment.
