PETALING JAYA: Voters will enjoy free rides on all Rapid KL, Rapid Penang and Rapid Kuantan public transport services throughout today as they go to vote.

Prasarana Malaysia Bhd, the operator of the country’s main rail and bus services, announced that its LRT, MRT, monorail, BRT, and bus services will all be free for all Malaysians today as part of its commitment to enable all Malaysians to vote in GE15.

“This is an effort by us as a Malaysian company to make it easier for our fellow Malaysians to exercise their right and responsibilities to vote as citizens of our country,” it said in a statement yesterday.

Prasarana said that Touch ‘n Go card and My50 users will not be charged any fare if they use their card on any of its services.

As for token users, they will need to get a free special one-way token from any customer service office at its stations.

Rapid Bus users in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, and Kuantan (including MRT feeder bus services) will not need to scan their cards or pay any fee when boarding or exiting the bus.

Heavy traffic is expected to be a common sight today due to the large number of voters, other than it being the weekend and a nationwide public holiday.

Road users are advised to observe safety rules and to be extra careful around voting venues due to the large number of people expected to be out and about.
