Man killed in five-vehicle crash in Ipoh

IPOH: A man was killed in an accident involving three trailers and two other vehicles at KM382.3 of the southbound North-south Expressway (PLUS) near here yesterday.

A Perak Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said that the department received a call at about 1am, and firefighte­rs from the Slim River Fire and Rescue station were dispatched to the scene.

“Upon arrival at the location, it was found that there had been an accident involving three trailers laden with steel bars, and two cars. A 44-year-old man was trapped and confirmed dead by Health Ministry personnel, who were also rushed to the scene.

“The body was handed over to the police for further action,” he said.

There is no further informatio­n regarding the deceased as at press time, and the body has been taken to a nearby hospital for a post-mortem.

According to the PLUS Twitter account, the accident caused traffic crawls for 4km as all lanes were blocked.
