-

A MAN who killed his girlfriend has been arrested by police in Uttar Pradesh, India, after a shootout, Malaysia Nanban reported.

The man, known only as Suffian, had met Nithi Gupta and began dating despite being from different religious background.

However, the couple got into an argument last Tuesday before Suffian pushed Nithi off the fourth floor. Nithi sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the hospital but died soon after.

Her family then lodged a police report claiming that Suffian had been pressuring her to convert to his faith before they could get married. Nithi had reportedly disagreed, leading to her being killed.

Suffian, who went hiding, was found by the police and detained after a brief shootout.
