Good job at polling station
KUDOS to everyone manning polling stations during the 15th General Election on Saturday.
At the station I went to, those of us accompanying senior citizens and people with disabilities to vote were not allowed to drive into the compound to drop them off. The distance from the entran-ce to the checkpoints and polling booths seemed endless at first, but thanks to the people who brought out wheelchairs, we managed to get everyone through.
Luckily, the prevailing drizzle dropped to a trickle, otherwise everyone would have been drenched as getting the seniors into wheelchairs took some time. There was some congestion but it was eased with effective policing.
Voting went on smoothly. However, I would like to point out to the Election Commission that for the elderly especially, the last station before leaving the voting room should be the inking process.
Seniors can be clumsy and could accidentally smudge the ballot paper, wasting all their effort.
Perhaps this aspect of the process for seniors still exercising their right to vote as loyal citizens could be looked into?
We thank all volunteers and staff members for making our experience worthwhile.
Syabas!
