‘Perikatan’s PM stake premature’
PETALING JAYA: It is premature of Perikatan Nasional to claim that it has more than the required majority support to form the Federal Government, says the Pakatan Harapn secretary-general.
Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail dismissed the statement by his Perikatan counterpart Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin.
He said this was because Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has said that other statutory declarations or negotiations with other parties by Umno MPS on an individual basis was not valid.
“They are not valid and cannot be calculated as proof of majority support for the prime minister candidate,” Saifuddin said, adding that an MP who signed the declaration could end up losing his seat.
Hamzah, who retained his Larut parliamentary seat, said Perikatan had submitted statutory declarations by newly-elected MPS supporting Perikatan chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as the 10th Prime Minister, claiming that Perikatan had more than 112 statutory declarations.
Saifuddin also said Umno’s Sembrong MP Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein had issued a statement that a viral message claiming that 10 Umno MPS supported Muhyiddin was fake.
“They are not valid and cannot be calculated.”
