Defeated in state polls but victorious in GE15

-

JOHOR BARU: Johor Amanah chief Aminolhuda Hassan (pic) has bounced back after his defeat in the March state elections by winning the Sri Gading parliamentary seat in GE15.

“Although I lost the Parit Yaani seat in the state polls, I continued to serve the people.

“I believe this is one of the reasons why the people chose me,” Aminolhuda said when contacted.

Parit Yaani is one of the state seats under the Sri Gading parliamentary constituency.

He said the track record of former Sri Gading MP Datuk Shahruddin Md Salleh could also be why voters opted for change.

Aminolhuda won the Sri Gading seat with a 4,000 majority in a four-cornered fight against Mohd Lassim Burhan (Bn-umno), Zanariyah Abdul Hamid (PN-PAS) and Mahdzir Ibrahim (Gta-pejuang).

There 13 candidates who contested in the Johor polls in March and in GE15.

Datuk Seri Hasni Mohammad from Umno, Liew Chin Tong from DAP and Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub from Amanah managed to win the seats they contested in both elections.

Meanwhile, the remaining nine candidates, including PKR’S Dr Maszlee Malik and Muda’s Lim Wei Jiet, failed in both their attempts.

Another candidate who was unsuccessful in his attempt to capture a state or parliamentary seat was Pejuang’s Nizam Bashir Abd Karim.

Nizam, who contested the Renggit state seat in the state polls and the Batu Pahat parliamentary seat in GE15, said he had done his best.
