Johor MIC state info chief replaced

-

JOHOR BARU: State MIC information chief S. Deva who criticised the Barisan Nasional leadership following the coalition’s dismal performance in GE15 has been removed from his position.

The state MIC has replaced him with B. Subramaniam, who is the special officer to Johor exco member K. Raven Kumar.

Deva confirmed that he was informed of his removal yesterday by Johor MIC chief R. Vidyananthan.

“I have since exited the state MIC Whatapp group,” he said when contacted, adding that he was waiting for an official letter on the matter.

Deva said that he had been a loyal MIC member for 25 years.

It is not clear whether Deva will face further disciplinary action.

On Sunday, Deva called on party president Tan Sri SA Vigneswaran to resign along with Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Deva defended himself, saying he had been consistent in saying that the lessons of GE14 must not be overlooked.

“Barisan also failed to listen to its supporters and grassroots leaders, insisting on fielding candidates that were favourable to them instead of those desired by the people.

“In return, the people have sent a strong message to show how disappointed they are,” he said.

Vidyananthan said Deva’s comments were his personal views and did not reflect the stand of Johor MIC.
