Five suspects nabbed over luxury car theft

JOHOR BARU: Police have arrested five men involved over the theft of a luxury car at Jalan Indah 15/3, Taman Bukit Indah on Nov 16.

Iskandar Puteri district police chief ACP Rahmat Ariffin said the suspects, aged between 21 and 56, were detained at 6.50pm around Taman Setia Indah here.

He said the arrests were made following a police report lodged by the 33-year-old car owner over the incident.

“The case of the incident is said to be about one of the arrested men. He is said to be dissatisfi­ed with the deal over the sale of a Mercedes Benz and an argument ensued during the discussion.

“All of them were arrested along with the case item, a Mercedes Benz, and they admitted to be involved in the incident,” he said in a statement.

According to ACP Rahmat, the owner of the vehicle suffered head injuries and was treated at the Sultanah Aminah Hospital.

One of the suspects is also being investigat­ed under the Societies Act for having a tattoo of a phoenix on his right arm.

All of the suspects were remanded until Nov 27.

The case is being investigat­ed under Section 394 of the Penal Code and Section 43 of the Societies Act 1966.
