PAS to hold talks with Perikatan on Anwar’s unity proposal

KUALA LUMPUR: PAS will hold discussions with other Perikatan Nasional component parties soon to decide if the coalition will take up the Prime Minister’s offer to join the unity government, says Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan.

The PAS secretary-general said the discussions would also take into consideration the views of the people, especially those who supported the party and Perikatan in GE15.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had in his maiden press conference on Thursday said the unity government would ensure the stability of the country and its economy as well as uphold the spirit of the Federal Constitution.

He also welcomed the participation of any party, but on the condition that they must agree with the fundamentals of the formation of the unity government, which is good governance, zero tolerance for corruption, and a Malaysia for all Malaysians.

Members of the unity government are Pakatan Harapan, Barisan Nasional and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).

Meanwhile, Takiyuddin said PAS congratulated Anwar on his appointment as the 10th Prime Minister, Bernama reported.

“We are confident that he (Anwar) will carry out his responsibilities well, fairly and with benevolence, as well as also prioritise the concept of federalism which is appropriate for all states and the people.

“PAS is also grateful that the postge15 conundrum on the country’s leadership has been resolved harmoniously and peacefully,” he said.
