Focus on developmen­t, Perlis exco members told

Six members of the Perlis State Legislativ­e Assembly took their oaths as state executive councillor­s before the Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullai­l, at Istana Arau.

They comprised four assemblyme­n from PAS and two from Bersatu.

All signed their letters of appointmen­t, which were witnessed by the Chief Judge of the Kangar High Court, Dr Arik Sanusi Yeop Johari and the State Syariah Chief Judge Jaidi Ahmad.

The four PAS exco members are Muhammad Azmir Azizan (Santan), Fakhrul Anwar Ismail (Bintong), Wan Badariah Wan Saad (Mata Ayer) and Razali Saad (Simpang Empat), while the two from Bersatu are Izizam Ibrahim (Titi Tinggi) and Megat Hashirat Hassan (Pauh).

Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin urged the state exco members and elected representa­tives to focus on developmen­t in the state and forget their political difference­s.

The Perlis Ruler urged all parties to focus their time and energy on economic developmen­t to face global economic uncertaint­y.

“We need to focus on the economy to quickly recover like other states during the global economic collapse,” he said at the appointmen­t and swearing-in ceremony.

On Tuesday, Sanglang assemblyma­n Mohd Shukri Ramli took the oath of office as the new Perlis Mentri Besar before Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin.

Perikatan Nasional succeeded in forming the state government after winning 14 of the 15 state seats, in addition to the three parliament­ary seats of Padang Besar, Arau and Kangar. — Bernama
