New ministers vow to put the people’s interest first

“The change of government and the appointmen­t of the Prime Minister have seen a sharp increase in our currency, and we hope it will continue to improve in the future.

“The cost of food imports will be cheaper if our currency continues to strengthen – that is our hope – and the increase is indeed incredible within 10 days of the general election (on Nov 19),” Mohamad added.

On the new Cabinet line-up, he said the Prime Minister had kept his promise of a leaner Cabinet involving only 28 ministers in his administra­tion.

Local Government Developmen­t Minister Nga Kor Ming said he was humbled, grateful and honoured to be appointed a minister to serve the nation.

“I am aware of the fact that the higher the position, the heavier the responsibi­lity.

“On our shoulders rest the hope of our nation. We must stand united to work as a strong team and put national interest above self.

“There is so much for us to accomplish, and I welcome all learned advice and guidance so we can work together to restore the glory for our nation. It’s time to start work,” he said when contacted.

Science and Technology Minister Chang Lih Kang thanked the Prime Minister and Tanjong Malim constituen­ts for their support.

“I will do my best in shoulderin­g the responsibi­lity I have been entrusted with,” he said.
