> That Cabinet lineup, though

-

Politicians and party supporters, please stop arguing over ministerial posts. It’s a waste of time. We’ve spent a lot of hours and money on the elections. Let’s just work together now. We do not need the instability of another government being toppled, let’s not do this all over again so soon. – NV Subbarow, Penang

When all is said and done, the unity government must begin its work and elected reps must not be preoccupied by their personal situations. Everyone has talked enough, and we have voted. Now show us what you can do for us, the rakyat. Action speaks louder than words. – William Ong

After the euphoria of finally getting a prime minister, the announcement of the Cabinet lineup was a major anticlimax to some of us. The composition of this unity government has necessitated several choices we deem “unfortunate”, such as the appointment of fewer ministers from a winning coalition, an election loser being elevated, and only one Indian minister being picked. This has left some of us disillusioned. Let no one forget that not only is the honeymoon period well and truly over, if things do not improve, expect divorce papers to be filed at the next ballot session. – Beatle5

The election is over, a vote for Barisan Nasional got Pakatan Harapan, and a vote for Pakatan Harapan got us Barisan? OK, some of us are unhappy but let’s bury the hatchet and move forward for the sake of the country. How this unity government is going to perform remains to be seen. And I hope our ministers don’t use their positions as opportunities to seek revenge by sabotaging working relationships among ministries and backstabbing each other. – Tahir Salam
