-

PETALING JAYA: Rider Mohd Akid Aziz’s misery has turned into a blessing for Azroy Hakeem Anuar.

Yesterday, Azroy of the Honda Yuzy Idemitsu Team was crowned as the champion of the CP150 category of the Malaysian Cub Prix Championships after fastest qualifier Akid’s disqualification during the race 10 at the Batu Kawan Stadium circuit.

Akid, from the ONEXOX TKKR Racing Team, was declared the winner after finishing the race in 17:10.908s but his joy was shortlived as the victory was cancelled due to technical issues.

This elevated second-placed Azroy as the winner after finishing the race in 17:12.961 while Kasma Daniel Kasmayudin of PETRONAS Sprinta Yamaha Maju Motor moved up to second spot (17:16.427). Third spot went to Mohd Helmi Azman of SCK Honda Racing Team (17:28.308.4).

The effort also saw Azroy finish second overall in the CP150 category behind PETRONAS Sprinta Yamaha CKJ rider Ahmad Afif Amran.

In the CP125 category, Mohd Syafiq Rosli of PETRONAS Sprinta Yamaha Maju Motor secured victory in the final race of the season by completing the race in 13:42.962s.

“The race earlier was highly competitive but I was confident with my machine and with myself as I’m used to this circuit. It is one of my favourite circuits,” said Syafiq of his victory.

Mohd Shafiq Rasol of ONEXOX TKKR Racing Team took second spot (13:47.368) while his teammate Mohd Hafiza Rofa was third with 13:47.513.
