Much heart and fight needed in battle for top four and survival

- EFNY JOHAN

WHEN battling for survival in the Premier League, a team need a lot of fight! Fight for every ball and fight for every tackle!

In game week 27, the Premier League saw many battles for the teams at the bottom.

The biggest fight came at the Vitality Stadium, whereby Bournemouth got a well-deserved 1-0 win against Liverpool. The game was won based on fighting! After weathering the early jabs from Liverpool, the Cherries delivered a sucker punch to condemn another away defeat to Liverpool.

Liverpool, who won their ‘’Cup Final’’ last week against Manchester United, could not find an answer against a welldisciplined team in Bournemouth.

Even after being presented with a penalty, Mohamed Salah managed to miss it by a mile. Even with all the substitution of forwards with names such as Diogo Jota, Roberto Firmino and

Fabio Carvalho coming on trying to save a point, none saw any fruition.

With Tottenham Hotspur winning against Nottingham Forest, the gap between the two clubs in the battle for fourth is now at six points.

With Liverpool facing Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal next, the fight for fourth will go down to the wire.

The relegation battle remains tight, with clubs from 12th to 17th positions still in it.

It is not a good time for any club to be in the slumps. One such club are Leicester, who suffered a fourth defeat in a row. Chelsea came to the King Power Stadium and left with three points.

The old players showed how the fight is done and demonstrated how to get it done to the new signings! Enzo Fernandez is proving his worth in the middle of the park with another solid performance. With an assist to boot, Kai Harvetz shows why Chelsea splurged the cash for him.

At the top, Arsenal maintained their five-point gap against City with another convincing win against Fulham away from home. The Gunners were in sizzling form, especially Leandro Trossard, with a hattrick of assists. This young Gunners team are showing a lot of spirit for a group of players that have not won the league in a long time.

Not only are Arsenal fighting for Mikel Arteta, but they are also one of the great entertainers in the competition.

If you cannot decide which game to watch every weekend, watch the Gunners, they are worth it! The front three of Trossard, Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka are a joy to watch, and their movements are seamless.

In Old Trafford, Casemiero showed too much fight as he was sent off for the second time this season with a studs-up challenge on Carlos Alcaraz. The Brazilian is expected to be banned for four matches with this red card.

United were fortunate that the sending-off did not cost them the game, as they got together to fight for a point against Southampton. It was probably the best 0-0 game you would ever watch this season.

With two points dropped, the battle for the league is down to two teams now: league leaders Arsenal and City.

City kept pace with a win against Crystal Palace, thanks to Erling Haaland’s 28th goal this season.

Eleven games to go, and most fans want to see whether Haaland can break the all-time goal-scoring record held by Andy Cole and Alan Shearer with 34 goals.

West Ham are out of the relegation zone via a superior goal difference to Bournemouth with a spirited comeback against Aston Villa.

The battle at the bottom is getting tight, as well as the battle for fourth.

To survive and remain in the Premier League, the winning factor that most teams need is a fighting spirit and a lot of heart!
