Man risks brush with death while rescuing duo

A MAN was hailed a hero for rescuing two women after their car had plunged into a monsoon drain, reported China Press.

In the Sunday incident along the Johor Baru-mersing road in Johor, the driver lost control of her car while navigating through the floods.

In a video, two women can be seen clinging tightly to the car as strong currents carried them away.

On seeing this, two men rushed to help, with one of them jumping into the water to pull the victims, aged 37 and 43, to safety.

During the process, he was nearly swept away too, but managed to save himself by keeping close to the riverbank.

Li Ruo, from China’s Sichuan province, said she was visiting a beachfront with her schoolmates from Universiti Sains Malaysia on New Year’s Eve.

Li, who received some stitches as well as underwent an X-ray and treatment at a public hospital, was shocked by the cheap medical fee of just RM220.

“I thought I was about to pay thousands of ringgit,” she said.

> China Press also reported that a woman caused an uproar when she complained of pubic hair in her food at a restaurant in Weifang city of China’s Shandong province last Friday.

Suspicious, the staff reviewed surveillance footage, which shows the woman putting her hands into her pants. She then takes out “something” and places it in the steamboat broth.

The young woman paid for the meal but the following day, she complained of having diarrhoea and asked for compensation.

She soon apologised after the clip of her act went viral online.
