Woman sends friend birthday gift of 999 steel wool roses

A WOMAN spent 1,000 yuan (RM663.55) to present her friend a birthday gift of 999 roses, made of steel wool, to prove that their friendship was as strong as steel.

China Press reported that the devoted woman, Xiao Mei, had stocked up on steel wool before handing it to a florist.

She was charged at least 1,000 yuan for workmanship and other materials.

The lucky recipient, known only as Pan from Jiangsu, China, shared photos of the gift, which was so big that it had to be delivered to her on a truck.

Pan was delighted with the roses.

“Steel wool will not wilt or rust easily. It can be displayed for a long time,” she said.

Video footage of the incident showed a white car that was parked at a street corner. This prevented other vehicles from entering the street and caused a traffic jam.

The car owner was nowhere to be found, so nine passers-by decided to physically move the car by lifting it up and placing it further down the street where it would not obstruct traffic.

Internet users were amused by the feat.

“The car owner should be happy that his car is now an online celebrity,” someone wrote.

Such services have begun to appear in Chinese cyberspace since last month in anticipation of schools reopening after Chinese New Year.

Vendors are charging about 100 yuan (RM66.34) for an A4-sized artwork.

“You better be quick if you want to get this service. There isn’t much time left,” one seller wrote.

Another vendor said most of his buyers were parents of primary school children.
