Neighbourhood group, local representatives cook and give out bubur lambuk
Lengkok golf SS7 kelana Jaya Rukun Tetangga (RT) hosted a programme called “Gerak Rahmah 2024: Jom Masak Bubur Lambuk Perpaduan ” for the benefit of neighbourhood residents.
It was organised by national Unity Ministry (JPNIN) under “Program Komuniti Rahmah ”as an incentive to unify and improve the RT initiative around the country.
The programme was held simultaneously across Malaysia with the aim of strengthening the role of community watch programme Rukun Tetangga as a key mobiliser and mediator in community, voluntary and national activities at grassroots level.
“I hope that through this event, the community can continue to bond and cooperate as friends and neighbours,” said KRT Lengkok golf SS7 chairman Datuk Lamien Sawiyo.
Launching the programme was Petaling Jaya MP Lee Chean Chung who praised Lamien for his role in ensuring the neighbourhood association was organised, professional and active in running its activities.
“A fraction of the community consisting of retirees, but I am always encouraged by their vibrancy and energy which they channel to enrich the neighbourhood,” said Lee, who has allocated RM2,000 to fund the Lengkok golf RT’S future projects.
“I encourage more people to step out of their house and participate in the activities organised,” he said.
Lee also took the opportunity to welcome new Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) councillor Mohamed Hamka Mohamed Jumah, who was assigned to Zone 22 that comprises SS7 and SS11.
“I hope we can all give our cooperation to him so that neighbourhood matters can be solved together,” he added.
Lee, Hamka and Lamien joined residents in stirring bubur lambuk that was cooked slowly in a massive pot.
Aside from giving the savoury porridge to residents, the bubur lambuk was also distributed to the kelana Jaya police station and Damansara Fire Station.
