Shining stars collect their dragon game treasures

PETALING JAYA: Theyearoft­he Dragon roared to life earlier this year as members of the public competed in Star Media Group’s (SMG) Lucky Lóng Lóng Chinese New Year contest.

The online game, which is based on the legend of the dragon pearl, was open to members of the public from Feb 10 to March 3.

In the game, players must try their best to accumulate points by collecting pearls while keeping their dragon soaring in the sky.

The top 38 players with the most points each walked away with an exciting prize.

“The introducti­on of this contest showcased our dynamic positionin­g as a young and fun brand, providing us opportunit­ies to engage with both current and potential new users,” said SMG marketing head Lim Jit Hau.

Playing on the word “long”, which means dragon in Mandarin, the Lucky Lóng Lóng contest brought in 22,056 visitors to the website.

Prizes included shopping vouchers and an array of tech appliances, such as an air purifier, microwave oven and multicooke­r.

Grand prize winner Eleanor Ho said, “I’m so happy and I feel so lucky to have won the grand prize.”

Additional­ly, eighth-placed winner Cheong Kar Kit said: “This game really tested my patience and willpower to succeed – which reflect the reality of life.”

The top 10 lucky winners in order are: Ho, Wai Meng Chan, Victor Lim Shi Huan, Chee Yang Chew, Lim Ciew Boon, Hooi Chuen Kok, Suhana Rahmat, Cheong, Shahizan Nazahar and Kah May Ooi.

“Overall, the Lucky Lóng Lóng contest was a huge success, with many lucky winners walking away with prizes.

“The amazing response by the community shows that readers are eager to engage with our digital initiative­s, and we’re excited to see where the next opportunit­y brings us,” said Lim.
