Malaysian stadium Board grateful for hybrid grass donated by Tunku ismail

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Stadium Board are grateful for the hybrid grass donated by the Regent of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim to be used for the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil.

Tunku Ismail, who is also the owner of Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT), agreed to donate the hybrid grass for use at the National Stadium following a meeting with Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh and Asian Football Confederation secretary-general Windsor John.

Tunku Ismail agreed to do so after a study showed that hybrid grass is more durable and flexible, and would better suit the stadium’s hosting of both sporting and non-sporting events.

A hybrid field is a combination of using natural grass and synthetic grass at the same ‘’ratio’’ to maximise the advantages of each.

The Malaysian Stadium Board , in a statement issued yesterday, expressed their willingness to remain committed to managing a multi-purpose field that is resilient and flexible for sporting and non-sporting events.

“The Zeon Zoysia grass that has been gifted to the National Stadium before will be opened and installed at the National Sports Council field, KL Sports City.

“The Malaysian Stadium Board once again express their joy and respect the long-lasting grace and consideration and wisdom of Tunku in advising the stadium board n facing all future challenges.

“For now, we will work closely with the Larkin Stadium management in order to receive this hybrid grass.”

The quality of the field at the National Stadium has been a concern every time when the national team are involved because it is also used to hold concerts.
