Seeing eye-to-eye on health services

-

SUNWAY Medical Centre (SMC) and A-look Eyewear Group announced a strategic partnership aimed at providing comprehensive and quality eye care services to the community, in and around the Klang Valley.

Through this partnership, the hospital and eyewear provider will organise public awareness initiatives on eye health while emphasising on the importance of regular eye check-ups.

The link-up would include innovative outreach programmes involving the provision of accessible eye care services such as eye health screening and free spectacles, said SMC in a statement.

The target was underserved communities such as children in orphanages and aboriginal populations residing in remote areas, it said.

It added that the partnership also aimed to enhance patients’ journey through a seamless referral process where A-look customers could easily access specialised eye care services at Sunway Eye Centre.

This ensured patients had access to medical eye care services as well as optical products.

Certain eye conditions that could cause blindness, such as diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma, could be prevented if early intervention was put in place, the statement added.

SMC chief executive officer Dr Seow Vei Ken said; “Founded on the principle of synergy, this partnership leverages the strengths of both organisations to offer the community comprehensive eye care with expedited access to specialised care.”

A-look Eyewear Group managing director Datuk Terry Ngeow said, “From the outset, our mission has been to provide not only stylish and innovative eyewear solutions, but also to prioritise the holistic well-being of our customers.

“This partnership with Sunway Eye Centre, known for its unparalleled expertise and commitment to excellence in eye care, aligns perfectly with our values of quality and customer satisfaction.

“Together, we embark on a journey to redefine the standards of eye health and eyewear excellence, combining both areas to enhance patient’s visual health for clear vision.

“This collaboration promises to deliver unparalleled values such as high-quality eyewear and personalised service to our customers and leave a lasting impact on the communities we serve.”

SMC is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, having grown from 200 licensed beds in 1999 to an expected total of 1,100 beds by next year.
