PETALING JAYA: Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) 2023 candidates can obtain their results from their schools from 10am on May 27, says the Education Ministry.

According to a statement, private candidates can contact the respective state education departments where they registered to take the examination, or they will receive notification by post.

“Both school and private candidates can also check their results via myresultspm.moe.gov.my.

“In addition, all candidates can check their results through MYSMS by typing SPM (space) Mykad number (space) index number and sending it to 15888 starting from 10am on May 27 to 6pm on June 2,” the ministry said.

A total of 395,870 candidates sat for SPM 2023 at 3,340 exam centres nationwide.

In Petaling Jaya, the National Union of Teaching Profession (NUTP) has asked the ministry to announce the results earlier, on May 23. Its secretary-general Fouzi Singon said educators have raised concerns about the results’ announcement being too close to the start of the school holidays, which begin on May 25.

“We are asking the announcement date to be made earlier, on May 23, because teachers have already made plans for the school holidays,” he said in a statement.

When contacted, Fouzi said NUTP has received a number of complaints from teachers following the Education Ministry’s announcement of the results, which will be made on a school holiday. He added that teachers require ample time to prepare for the holiday season after investing time and effort into their students’ academic growth throughout the year.

“Many teachers will already be in their hometowns or have vacation plans with their families. We hope this issue can be resolved to maintain a positive environment.

“The Education Ministry should consider and understand the situation affecting the teachers before coming to a decision,” he said.
