PETALING JAYA: Galven Green (pic) is riding high on the Toyota Tour and has a chance to win the Order of Merit but he is taking things at his own pace.

The 25-year-old has won three of the last Toyota Tour tournaments in Malaysia and is firmly leading the Order of Merit.

Galven recorded his first professional win in last year’s Alphard Cup at Kota Seriemas Golf Club, then followed it up with the 2024 Toyota Tour season-opener - Tun Ahmad Sarji Trophy - at Saujana GCC.

Galven lifted the Corolla Cross Cup at Glenmarie Golf and Country Club after a close playoff with veteran Nicholas Fung.

Galven will be looking forward to contending at the Vios Cup, which tees off at the Templer Park Country Club this Tuesday though he is keeping his options open.

“Every tournament is a new tournament, every week is a new week. I’m making some tweaks to my swing with the help of my coach, so let’s see how it goes,” he said.

On whether finishing No. 1 at the end of the season is one of his goals, he replied: “It’s very early in the season and if that happens, I will be very happy. However, I think that consistency is key and that is what I am striving to achieve.”

He is looking forward to playing at the Templer Park course.

“I have played at Templer Park a few times before but mainly during tournaments. The course is of average length with a good mix of long and short holes.

‘‘Some tricky holes and I think management is quite important here.”

“Everyone in the field has a chance to win. We all want to go out there and play the best that we can.”
