School fosters support, community for the neurodiver­gent

An education and therapy centre for children with cognitive and sensory impairment­s brought people together to “Walk for Autism”.

the event by taarana School was aimed at fostering greater support for individual­s with autism and other forms of neurodiver­gence.

the school was establishe­d under the aegis of Raise Yourself to Help Mankind (Rythm) Foundation, the social impact arm of Qi Group.

the group’s employees, senior executives and members of the board of directors joined the school’s students, their families and guests at the event held at Selangor State developmen­t corporatio­n (PKNS) Sports complex in Petaling Jaya, Selangor.

“Walk for Autism aimed to do more than raise awareness.

“We sought to tangibly demonstrat­e our dedication to inclusivit­y and unwavering support for individual­s on the autism spectrum,” said Rythm Foundation head Santhi Periasamy.

“this event was a vivid testament to our commitment to nurturing a community founded on empathy, understand­ing and acceptance – values we endeavour to cultivate and uphold,” she added.

Siti Fatimah, a parent of a taarana student, emphasised how the event extended beyond participat­ion.

“it is not just about the walk itself; it is about building a community where everyone feels included and valued.

“initiative­s like these go a long way in shaping a more supportive society for our children and future generation­s.”

the first 50 participan­ts to complete the 1.5km walk received medals, while participan­ts also took home e-certificat­es to remember their day.

Qi Group general manager Kuna Senathiraj­ah, human resources and administra­tion director Boey Kho, marketing and sales director Pathman Senathiraj­ah, taarana’s principal dr Sunitha Sivakumara­n and several senior executives presented the medals.

the event also featured booth activities ranging from games to informatio­n on medical and therapy services as well as skills training in line with the event’s goal to make a lasting and all-round impact on autism awareness.
