Taking escapism to new heights
> Samsung’s latest version of the Gear VR – the Innovator Edition – is now available to wow users with better features and comfort
SMART wearable devices have really been kicking up a storm within the consumer electronics market. While most manufacturers have been focusing on producing smart watches and fitness bands, some have also started to dabble in virtual reality headsets.
Leading the way is Samsung, with the Gear VR. The first Gear VR was released in December last year and was used in tandem with the Galaxy Note 4.
As a sign that the Korean giant is looking to continue its leadership in wearable technology and mobile virtual reality, Samsung and partner Oculus have refined the Gear VR to produce the Innovator Edition for S6, which is fully optimised and compatible with the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge smartphones.
Following feedback from consumers and critics about the first Gear VR, Samsung has tweaked the Gear VR Innovator Edition to give a fully-immersive and cinematic virtual reality experience, with improved viewing as well as a more comfortable design.

“As one of the world’s leading technology giants, we are proud to bring to Malaysians the latest Samsung Gear VR Innovator Edition.
“It’s an experience that everyone has to try. The Gear VR was made to bring imagination into reality. The potential is endless and this is the future.”
Some of the highlights of the Gear VR Innovator Edition include an extensive selection of optimised apps and games, as well as localised virtual reality content that can easily be downloaded via the Oculus Store.
Besides games, there are also thrilling and exciting apps: one that gives users a 360° view of a new performance from Cirque du Soleil and another that allows them access into the helmet of Marvel superhero Iron Man.
On top of that, the Gear VR enables users to enjoy high-resolution movies, TV shows, VOD services and photos like never before, as the S6 and S6 Edge both have sharp 5.1-inch Super AMOLED displays and a wide 96° field-of-view. The Gear VR Innovator Edition has also gone through a design makeover and now sports a control touchpad that is easier to use as it is now set deeper on the side of the headset and has an embossed centre.
Comfort is also an important factor when it comes to headsets. This device has soft and flexible cushioning for ultimate user comfort. It is also 15% smaller and has mechanical ventilation, making it more comfortable to wear even for extended periods of time.
