Umno Youth wants probe to continue

-

PETALING JAYA: Umno Youth has called for the ongoing investigations into the controversial 1MDB fund to continue, citing that this is one of the main issues in the country that is eroding public confidence in the party.

“The nation needs to hear the truth in this issue through the investigation process that is currently being carried out by the special task force, the National Audit Department and the Public Accounts Committee,” the Youth wing said in a statement.

It also called for these institutions to be given time and freedom to carry out their investigations.

“These institutions must execute their duties without hindrance or provocation from any quarter.”

Umno Youth also expressed its hopes that the recent Cabinet reshuffle would not be exploited to create divisions in the party.

“It is less than three years before the next general election.

“It is the time for us to be united, to harness our energy and come closer to prove that the party’s tradition of championing for the people still thrives among members,” the statement said.

The Youth wing also hopes that with the reshuffle, the government will be further strengthened and public confidence will be restored.

Umno Youth also said although Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal were dismissed from the Cabinet, it would still respect them in their current roles as Umno deputy president and vicepresident respectively.
