Hitman: Agent 47

- BY AFIF ADREE

THIS reboot of the 2007 film Hitman, which was based on the popular video game series of the same name, follows Agent 47 (Friend) as he hunts down Katia Van Dees (Ware), who is on a quest to find her father, Litvinenko (Ciaran Hinds).

Also on the hunt for Litvinenko is Le Clerq (Thomas Kretschmann), the chairman of Syndicate International, who plans to unlock the secret of Agent 47’s past, and create an army of killers just like him. And he needs Litvinenko’s research to do so.

Le Clerq’s agent, John Smith (Quinto), is sent to track down and capture Katia, which leads to some intense confrontations and fight scenes among the three of them.

As the story unfolds, Katia discovers an unexpected and intriguing connection with Agent 47, who eventually becomes her mentor and begins training her to fight.

Agent 47 is known to be an emotionless, fiercely independent figure that moves among the shadows utilising incredible tools and weaponry.

This time around, however, what defines him is not his martial arts skills but his humanity.

The film attempts to explore whether if it is really possible to remove completely all emotions like

love and fear in such engineered killers as Agent 47 – because, after all, he is a human being who still bleeds.

Overall, the movie has plenty of blood and impressive killing methods that are far more creative than the rest of the film’s elements combined.

Fans of the Hitman game might want to watch this film just to see the fight scenes and styles which were inspired by the game itself.
