Cop’s son denies false statement charge

KUALA LUMPUR: A son of a senior police officer pleaded not guilty in the sessions court here yesterday to a charge of giving false statement about the sale of 50 luxury cars last year.

Mohamad Azhan Hamza, 31, a businessma­n, was charged with giving a false statement about the sale of the cars through car dealers TTDI Cars, Melinium Auto and Sentimas Sdn Bhd to investigat­ing officer, Mohamad Farid Jabar from Malaysian AntiCorrup­tion Commission (MACC) at its headquarte­rs in Putrajaya, between 1.45pm and 6.30pm on July 16 last year.

Judge Norsharida­h Awang allowed Mohamad Azhan bail of RM20,000 in one surety and fixed Nov 30 for re-mention. – Bernama
