CHINA HOLDS FOUR JAPANESE FOR ALLEGED SPYING
TOKYO: Four Japanese nationals are being investigated in China on suspicion of spying, Japanese media reported yesterday, citing the Chinese embassy in Tokyo. Late last month, Beijing confirmed it had detained two Japanese men on espionage charges. A Japanese woman was later reported to have been arrested in Shanghai in June and is still being detained. Another Japanese man has been under house arrest since June, Jiji Press reported, citing Chinese embassy spokesman He Zhenliang. – dpa
