15 held, chemicals seized in drug raids
KUALA LUMPUR: Federal antinarcotics police seized 200kg of chemicals meant for producing designer drugs in a raid at a clandestine drug laboratory in Jerantut yesterday.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar (pix) said in a Twitter message at 5pm yesterday that 15 members of the drug syndicate were arrested in raids in the Klang Valley and Jerantut by the federal Special Tactical Intelligence Narcotics Group (STING).
He said the recovered drugs are ingredients used to make Ecstasy pills.
Khalid said 5kg of cocaine was also seized from the suspects.
It is believed that the seized substances could produce millions of Ecstasy pills which the syndicate distributed both locally and to neighbouring countries.
Federal police are expected to hold a press conference on the case this week.
