Spreading seeds of love and care

-

A HOUSEHOLD name in the property development industry, S P Setia Berhad has raised a staggering RM8,623,000 under its philanthropic arm, S P Setia Foundation. The monies were raised at its recent 16th annual charity dinner.

Attended by luminaries and notables; the foundation focuses primarily on education and national unity in its aim to cultivate and promote a caring society within the school realm. It also focuses on instilling good moral values and a sense of nationalism among future leaders of the nation through various programmes and activities it organises.

“We are truly thankful for the generous contribution from all valued donors which will allow us to lend a helping hand to more Malaysians in need, touching the hearts of many who are underprivileged especially in the field of education,” said S P Setia Foundation chairman Tan Sri Datuk Dr Wan Mohd Zahid.

This year’s theme, “Love & Care” embodies the foundation’s mission to raise funds to make education accessible to the less fortunate, implementing sustainable programmes, partaking in disaster relief efforts, as well as providing additional support to the recipients under the Setia Caring School programme, which was launched earlier this year.

Currently, the programme has adopted three schools – SJK (C) Lee Min, SK Meru Jalan Tap and SJK (T) Ladang Vallambrosa. It is structured on paying special interest in creating awareness towards the environment, the welfare of its students and the surrounding community.

To celebrate the students’ achievements, the Setia Caring School programme will be coorganising a joint year-six graduation ceremony for all of its adopted schools. The event will highlight and promote national unity and acknowledges parents’ and teachers’ contribution. To date, the foundation has raised over RM71.4 million since its inception in 2000.
